Tapado

El tapado is a garífuna soup, made with seafood broth and coconut milk; the consistency is thick and the color is a mustard yellow. The main ingredients of el tapado are shrimp, fish, crab, crawfish (it’s a small lobster), white (Atlantic) snail, squid, clams and green banana. This mixture of flavors makes it unique and that is why it can only be enjoyed in Izabal.
