La Peña del Sol Latino – Latin Style Restaurant in Antigua Guatemala

Since 2006 when La Pena de Sol Latino opened its doors for the first time, Antigua Guatemala has now become accustomed to live Peruvian music played by some very fine musicians indeed. A dream come true from the owners Francisco Mendoza probably Guatemala’s leading exponent of Andean music and his partner Bill Harris a very well known and well recorded percussionist from Nashville. Live music is performed nightly, and those wonderful Andean melodies can be heard from Wednesday through Sunday.

La Pena de Sol Latino is very popular with NGO´s as they support many of the local non profits here in Antigua Guatemala. If you are travelling in a large group such as doctors or religious organisations, then with its ample seating and entertainment La Pena would be a fine choice.

As for the food, soups, salads and steaks are well represented. With many vegetarian options including veggie burgers and three cheese Caneloni.

Recommendations from Que Pasa are the French onion soup as well as many of their homemade desserts including the carrot cake and the triple chocolate Brownie.

As a side note, La Pena de Sol Latino offers cooking classes. Check their website for more details.
